
A new PC pool was equipped with 11 PC's. It provides wireless internet from the University network. ESRI ArcGIS software is used for lecturing Remote Sensing and GIS application units. Additionally students are trained on open source ILWIS software. For teaching purposes 2 LCD projectors with a projection screena were purchased. Furthermore a scanner and two printers are available in the Project office.
The new climate station at KU Geography Department is
fully automatic and collects data on rainfall, air and soil temperature, air
humidity, air pressure, solar radiation, wind direction and wind speed in a 10
minute interval.
The power supply is via solar power. Data transfer is via GPRS.

The Resource Centre at the Department of Geography is supported by IWMNET. A digital literature database can be searched by students. A student assistant is ready to help. Recent publications covering a wide range of IWM related topics are accessible as books, journal papers and proceedings.
