The Master’s Programme in Integrated Sanitation Management (ISM) at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania aims at producing international practice-oriented professionals in project management focused in improving water and sanitation governance through a regional knowledge transfer and training mechanism. The programme will produce graduates adapted to manage sanitation related issues within municipalities, river basin organisations, water utilities, research and international organisations.
The graduates will be knowledgeable in technical aspects of sanitation, ecological sanitation, decentralised water supply and sanitation, field and laboratory techniques on sanitation management and research, Policy, Laws and Institutional and Socio-Economic Aspects of Integrated Sanitation´Management and Planning, elements of water, sanitation and hygiene education.
The programme will be run in collaboration with partner Universities in the region (Makerere, Kenyatta and University of Zambia) and Germany (Siegen). A host of seasoned professors, researchers, and practitioners will be drawn from these universities through a tailored staff exchange programme.
The students will use well equipped laboratories anchored on targeted field work and emerging management concepts. Students will be allowed to conduct research in their home countries.
