1981 – 1988: Visiting Professor (DAAD) for Water Resources Management, Water Supply, Sanitary and Hydraulic Engineering at Jordan University (Amman, Jordan) and Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia)
Since 1980: short term lectureships in Jordan, India, Laos, Kenya
Since 1978: short and long term consultant for aspects of water resources management in various developing countries (Nepal, India, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Syria, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somaliland, Kenya, Tanzania, Azerbaijan) on behalf of GTZ, EU, World Bank and private consulting firms. Since 1991 establishment of university cooperation schemes in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Laos, Brazil) including the organization of summer schools, expert seminars, research catchments, research events, exchange of lecturers and students, supervision of master and PhD students with support from GTZ, EU, DAAD and UNDP.
Since 2003: establishing and organizing the Integrated Watershed Management Network for Eastern Africa (IWMNet) and the German Water Alumni Network (GAWN) and Managing projects of international development cooperation in university development funded by EU, GTZ

Establishement of IWMNet Trust
IWMNet has been established as an International Network in form of a Trust on 21st of September 2011 in Kampala.The registration process has started in Kenya.
