    • Start of DAAD sponsored university cooperation project on Integrated Watershed Management Network (IWMNet), development and establishment of a regional master's  programme, supported by Kenyatta University (Nairobi, Kenya), University of Dar es   
    • Salaam (Dar es Salaam, Tanzania), Makere University (Kampala, Uganda), Sokoine University of Agriculture (Morogoro, Tanzania), Arba Minch University (Arba Minch, Ethiopia), Freie Universität Berlin (Berlin, Germany) and Universität Siegen (Siegen, Germany).
    • Research Conference Lars2004 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Lake and Catchment Research, sponsored by GTZ, DAAD and Goethe Institute
  • 2005 
    • 1st DAAD Summer School in Siegen on Topics of Integrated Watershed Management in conjunction with IFAT 2005 in Munich with the majority of participants from Eastern Africa
  • 2006 
    • Msc on IWM endorsed at KU
    • Start of DAAD German Alumni Water Network (GAWN)
    • 1st DAAD Summer School on participatory watershed management planning of  in Meru, Kenya, co-sponsored by GTZ
  • 2007 
    • First student enrolled at KU for the IWM MSc Programme with DAAD sponsorship
    • 2nd DAAD Summer School on participatory watershed management planning in Meru, Kenya, co-sponsored by GTZ
    • Research Conference Lars2007 in Arba Minch, Ethiopia, on lake and catchment research, sponsored by GTZ, DAAD and Goethe Institute
    • The project “Capacity Building in Integrated Watershed Management for Eastern Africa”  started in cooperation with Arba Minch University, Kenyatta University and University of Dar es Salaam. The project is sponsored by the ACP EU Water Facility; co-sponsors are  GTZ and DAAD.

Establishement of IWMNet Trust

IWMNet has been established as an International Network in form of a Trust on 21st of September 2011 in Kampala.The registration process has started in Kenya.
